Angeles City The Philippine Motor City

It may come as a surprise to some, but Angeles City has long been a thriving hub for Philippine motor sports. However, if like many tourists to Angeles City you spend your whole vacation camped on a bar stool, you will miss out on hearing the roar of drag racers on Omni airstrip; the wind-in-your-face fun of Clark’s go-kart track, or the feel of mud splattering you from the wildly spinning wheels of a rally car at one of the Clark Speedways rally cross events.

Clark is now host to a range of muscle car refurbishment and custom build companies, and the areas auto sports events include everything from huge 5,000+ participant bike rallies, drag races, go--karting and drifting. We now even have a new speedway boasting a full-length international race track for go-karts, drag racing, super bikes, motorcycle racing, rally cross and other special auto events.

For drift racing fans, the expanse of interconnected car parks in front of the now defunct Expo provides a perfect venue. Here you can watch competitors from the Philippines and overseas take to the asphalt drifting and burning through a few thousand miles of tire rubber as they twist and slide around each turn.

This purpose-built motor sports venue has the newest drag strip in the country, and with a total length of 970 meters (3,182 feet), it is one of the very few quarter mile strips with sufficient run-off to allow the big boys toys to really come out and play in the Philippines.

Just as well really as Angeles City is also the Philippine ‘home’ of American muscle cars, though it must be said that the Angeles Hot Rod Association’s 800+ HP classic American hot rods are now finding things a little tougher, competing head-to-head with 21st century composite-material, purpose built Japanese speed-machines running well into the 9-seconds!nds!nds!

In addition to the drag strip, Clark Speedway boasts a 3.5-km track with two long straights and few turns with minimal defined uneven terrain. This makes all kinds of races possible - from motorcycles, superbikes, and touring cars, to formula series races.

The banks of Delores Creek, which runs along the edge of the speedway area, allows for another popular motor event as it provides an ideal, mud churning off-track stage for Rally Cross.

Go Karting at Clark Karting Track, Angeles City, Pampanga, PhilippinesIf a night of festivities has left you feeling that the roar of ranks of screaming engines may be a little too much to bear, don’t fret. Angeles still has a bit of motor sport you can enjoy – go-karting. The go-kart track on Clark provides an ideal place for a couple of hour’s non-liquid fun. The track, to full international standards, has a number of go-karts that can be hired in 15-minute slots; perfect for you and your honey-ko to have a bit of fun during those hours between getting up and needing to have that first beer.
